ANGUS PATTISON

FOUNDATION ART & DESIGN

ABOUT ANGUS

This year, on foundation I have altered my approach to working in a design context embracing sculptural methods and processes. This has mainly been influenced by thinking and making in an intuitive, hands on way, so that the soulful side of crafting has taken much more significance to my overall aesthetic.

This project engages with the tactile world as a working environment. I have decided to focus on the growing issue of ocean plastic pollution, as an ongoing environmental project. The concept behind this project has been to gather materials and objects from this coastal environment, and to recycle and repurpose them into mark making tools.

The aim of this has been to construct to a five-piece brush set, as a set of mark making devices that can then be used as an implement to make drawings. For me, the process of gathering, making, then using the tools is equally important.
