CHLOE BOOTON

FOUNDATION ART & DESIGN

ABOUT CHLOE

Surviving isolation and confinement played a big role during my foundation year. Highlighting the importance of nature played a key part in the survival of my mental health during the pandemic.

I wanted to express my journey of survival by illustrating nature and it’s elements to represent solitude, frustration and growth as a motif for survival and healing.

My final project includes a series of illustrations featuring women on floating islands alongside a growing creature with a stump on its back. If you look closely you see a green orb that connects each piece together.

Working digitally, I played around with hues, structuring various layers, and opacities, blending, creating highlights, growth and decay, and movement.  I was inspired by the work of My Nguyen who focuses on fantasy, nature and the female form.
