Land of Strife – Stryveland – is a project predominantly based on archival imagery and research of mynydd y gwair mountain, one of Swansea’s highest mountains on the Northern side of the Gower peninsular.
Inspired by the book Entangled Life and sounds of psychedelic mushrooms this work uses multi-disciplinary techniques to create ‘moving’ still images of recent and historic imagery. It further explores mycelium networks of the underground, and the psychogeographical networks of historical, philosophical and environmental aspects of the mountain. It is realised in the direction of the four main points of the compass and in the colours of the medicine wheel (circle of life). This is presented alongside a written piece of four very bizarre stories!
