ABOUT LEILA
For my “Local Landscape” interiors collection, I drew inspiration from South Wales and in particular Swansea. The concept behind my collection is to celebrate the details of daily life with emphasis on “Coast and Country.” My project explores a natural narrative, and the aim was to promote escapism within interiors by bringing the outdoors in through, materials pattern and colour. During recent times more of us have looked for escapism many of us have found ourselves adapting our lives and homes.
I took a multidisciplinary approach to making this body of work, focusing on materiality and combing patterns and textures. The collection began with lots of hand rendered processes which I later combined with digital techniques. The material choices where carefully selected to further link to the landscape. The possibilities of pattern really excite me combining drawing with laser cutting/engraving allowed me to work on hard materials for an interior/ exterior context.
