This project focuses on what brings us joy; specifically looking at our senses and stimulates nostalgia. I used forms and objects that are mostly overlooked, and then deconstructed the drawings to create interesting abstract designs. I experimented playfully with different forms of line drawings, shadows and layers, taking drawings further through manipulation and development. I have created a refined, co-ordinating collection of design elements, for paper coverings and hard surfaces for an interior setting. I aimed for the designs to reflect a playfulness, yet evoke comforting feelings, selecting colours that reflect joy.
I created a blend of traditional and contemporary processes, a key aspect of my work. My signature style and favourite material when designing is stitch with paper, I wanted to open this up in my recent project to a wider variety of surfaces and materials.
My next step is to push forward my passion for design by continuing to development my practice at MDes level, with the hope of gaining more knowledge, skills, and experience to build a stronger foundation for my career ahead. I hope to keep experimenting and to achieve the highest standard of work.
