ABOUT CLAIRE

Starting with the Me, Me, Me project, the themes of inner self exploration (learning what it is to be whole again) have been incorporated as a story of loss and (personal) survival. This auto biographical method has allowed me to draw from my surroundings and life experience. It took me deeper emotionally – the message was too strong to hide under layers of text. It was honest, real, laid bare. Nostalgia is an old friend, fragility is life experience, truth to it’s material.

For this project, I have been inspired by the work of Julie Arkell, and have created a doll like piece that might appear awkward and uncomfortable to look at but was cathartic and personal to me. Creating, refining and capturing what I want to say with this work has been a struggle, and meaning and material have weighed heavily on me.

“With great power comes great responsibility.”
