Reclaiming the Space is an ongoing project created with the intentions of spreading awareness regarding women’s safety. This series features images that women have taken in places where they have been made to feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
Situations like this, do not just happen every now and again, it is an extremely regular occurrence. When we go out alone, we should not have to do so in fear. We shouldn’t have to hold our keys between our fingers. We shouldn’t need to keep our locations turned on so our friends can see if we’re safe or not. We shouldn’t have to cover up in fear of attracting the wrong kind of attention. It shouldn’t have to be like this. But it is.
