DEMICS - MA Contemporary Dialogues Exhibition

‘Pertaining to a people or population’ – the adjective demic is derived from the Ancient Greek word for ‘commoner’ and incorporated in current terms such as info-demic, academic, and of course, pandemic.

DEMICS is the title of a collective exhibition film representing work produced on the MA Contemporary Dialogues at Swansea College of Art; a programme which offers a unique postgraduate experience for artists and designers from multiple specialist pathways, an interdisciplinary research environment, with expert staff and an expansive range of facilities. The group have overcome signifiacnt restrictions with resilience and creativity to produce a remarkable range of diverse, provocative and forward-thinking works that deftly reflect the ethos and philosophy of the programme.

Covid-imposed limitations on curating a physical exhibition has resulted in an innovative collective exhibition looped film (CELF) showcasing graduates’ praxis.

Each student has made a short, time-based response as an invitation to explore their wider body of work. The DEMICS film reel includes imbedded hyperlinks – please hover to reveal, and follow where you wish.
